Legislative Priority

We have been successful in advocating for eight major health promotion provisions to be included in the Senate and/or House health care reform bills. If health care reform moves forward, most of these provisions will remain in the final bill.  If health reform stalls, we will push for a free standing health promotion bill.

Become an Advocate

Our advocates have sent more than 11,000 letters to members of Congress to ask for support of health promotion provisions in health care reform legislation. There are many benefits to becoming a grassroots advocates. Become an Endorser

Health Promotion Advocates has worked with leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate to draft two health promotion bills. Once the debate on health care reform began, key provisions from these two bills were incorporated into the current legislation now under debate. Hundreds of organizations endorsed these bill.  Given the integration of these bills into health care reform legislation, we have suspended efforts to attract additional endorsements.
