For the past eight years, Ms. Brown has worked with Stanly Regional Medical
Center as a community health educator, while most recently serving as the
department’s Health Promotion Coordinator for the last two years.
In addition to a B.S. in Biology as well as an Honors Degree from Belmont

involve 11 local businesses, in which over 1,200 people are enrolled. She was
also instrumental in developing their local school wellness policy which was
passed and implemented this year.
Along with working with many local health and wellness coalitions, she
currently serves as President of the local County Manager’s Association and
Vice-Chair of the county’s Healthy Carolinian task force – Partner’s in Health.
She continues to gain an understanding of health promotion by attending both
local and national conferences and am very active in advocating for Health
Promotion legislation.
Since November of 2004, she has served as the North Carolina state
representative for Health Promotion Advocates. She also began serving on the
grassroots committee of Health Promotion Advocates in February of 2006. She was
successful in gaining over 25 letters of support in the most recent campaign and
have actively built North Carolinas list of Health Promotion Advocates. Most
recently, I have been named as the regional contact for a newly-formed state
group – North Carolina Coalition for Healthy Solutions.
