Donald E. Barr, PhD

Donald E. Barr – Dr. Barr is currently the dean of the College of Health Sciences at West Chester University (WCU) of Pennsylvania. WCU is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and is a public, regional, comprehensive institution committed to providing access and high quality higher education to the citizens of southeastern Pennsylvania. He has been dean since 1997. The College of Health Sciences is made up of five academic departments that house over 20 health sciences related degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Prior to coming to WCU, Dr. Barr was a professor and chair of the department of health and wellness at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Buffalo (aka Buffalo State College - BSC). He was also the Director and Founder of the Center for Worksite Health at BSC, a research and service center that focused on worksite health initiatives. He has published a number of peer reviewed articles and has contributed book chapters in the area of worksite health promotion. In addition, he has consulted for numerous companies on worksite health related matters. Dr. Barr earned his bachelor of science degree at Colorado State University, and his master’s and doctoral degrees at the SUNY at Buffalo.
