Leslie Spencer, PhD

Leslie Spencer has been a grassroots advocate since the inception of Health
Promotion Advocates in 2001. She has served on the Grassroots Advocacy
committee since 2003 and is currently the committee Chair and a member of the
Board of Directors. As an Associate Professor at Rowan University in Glassboro,
NJ, Dr. Spencer coordinates the Health Promotion and Fitness Management
undergraduate degree program. An active participant in the professional health
promotion community for more than 15 years, Dr. Spencer has presented at the
National Wellness Conference, the Art and Science of Health Promotion conference
and the former Association for Worksite Health Promotion conference. She also
serves as an Associate Editor and reviewer for the American Journal of Health
Promotion and as a reviewer for the American Journal of Health Education. The
focus of her recent scholarly publications has been a review of the literature
on the application of the Transtheoretical Model to specific health behaviors.
Sharon Albert
Sharon Albert, Ph.D. has spent her career in healthcare marketing, working
both in the private and public healthcare sectors. Her experience includes the
development of programs and services for community based organizations to
consulting to pharmaceutical companies in product launch strategies. Most
recently, she developed strategic initiatives for multinational corporations in
the implementation of corporate social responsibility initiatives in the fight
against HIV/AIDS in developing countries. She has a Master’s in Information
Management and her doctorate in public health social work.
Wendi
Bailey
Wendi Bailey, M.Ed, CHES has been a grassroots advocate since the beginning
in 2001. She has served on the Grassroots Advocacy committee since 2003 as a
regional coordinator and is currently working to recruit corporate liaisons.
Wendi is the Manager of Health Promotion at the Home Depot in Atlanta Georgia.
She is responsible for the Building Better Health (BBH) program for over 2000
locations and 350,000 associates in the US and Canada. BBH offers a variety of
health improvement programs, small and large, single and multi-site including
weight management, physical fitness, quitting tobacco and flu shots. Wendi has
volunteered with health promotion professional organizations for more than 13
years.
Donna Allen
Member
Board of Directors and the Grassroots Committee
Donna Allen, PhD., CHES, FAWHP is the founder and CEO of Positive Purpose
Incorporated, a company dedicated to consulting, education and training in
health promotion for positive business outcomes. Donna has presented nationally
and internationally on strengths and positive psychology and is a Certified
Strengths Coach and Strengths Advocate by the Gallup Organization. Positive
Purpose Inc. Has consulted internationally and nationally on Behavioral Health
and Science with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Congress,
Wall Street Journal and Danya International to enhance science of strengths and
positive psychology across all generations for global well-being. Positive
Purpose Inc. Hosts the Sedona Positive Psychology Forum in collaboration with
the National Wellness Institute and the Positive Psychology Forum: Work Life
Worth Living in San Diego, California. Dr. Allen, a professor in higher
education for 20 years, is taking her teaching resources, knowledge, vision and
advocacy for living life on purpose to a new level. Dr. Allen, is a National
Board Member of Health Promotion Advocates, a non profit organization that
advocates for the integration of health promotion concepts into national health
policy and all aspects of society.
Tanya Morgan
Dr. Tanya Morgan began her service as a Health Promotion Advocate in 2003.
Her current responsibilities include updating the Health Promotion web site with
information relevant to the Grassroots Committee. She also participates as a
member of the Communications Committee which allows her to remain up to date on
web site additions and updates. As an Assistant Professor at West Chester
University, Dr. Morgan is the Director of the Graduate Program in Health
Administration. Her research agenda focuses on Medical Geography, Access and
Utilization of Health Care, and Underserved Populations. She had the opportunity
to teach courses for West Chester University in Oxford, England and to travel to
China to present at an international conference. Dr. Morgan also visited several
universities in China as part of an initiative to develop international
collegiality in research agendas.
