In early December, 2013, three members of the Health Promotion Advocates Board of Directors were invited by the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) in Northeast Ohio to participate in a Small Business Wellness Summit. Michael O’Donnell, Mari Ryan and John Harris were part of a group of experts from the field of worksite health promotion, who participated in the two day event.
COSE is Northeast Ohio’s largest small business support organization and provides cost-effective group purchasing programs, advocacy on legislative and regulatory issues, and networking and educational resources to help small businesses grow. With nearly 14,000 members, COSE is a driving force in advocating for the priorities of Northeast Ohio’s small businesses.
COSE convened this summit for the purpose of exploring what role they can play in supporting and encouraging small businesses in the area of health promotion. In addition to health promotion experts, others in the conversation included COSE members representing the voice of the small business owner; public health, medical and clinical professionals, health insurance professionals, and the COSE staff.
