Mike Motta has over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur in the health, diagnosis fitness and wellness industry including: staff leadership, personnel coaching/development, technology innovation, facility design, personal training, corporate wellness, and physical therapy.
In 1986, he founded Plus One Health Management, an organization dedicated to seeing healthy results through customized on-site solutions for the individuals and organizations they serve. Plus One designs, staffs, programs and manages on-site wellness centers, fitness centers, urban spas, physical therapists, registered dieticians and professional wellness specialists for Fortune 100 clients in 166 locations across 26 states, D.C., Canada and Puerto Rico.
From 2004-2008 Mike served on the Board of Directors for the International Health and Racquet Sports Association and currently serves in the following positions:
- Member of the National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity (NCPPA) Business and Industry Sector Planning Committee that is working on the 2010-11 National Implementation of the U.S. Physical Activity Plan
- Charter Member of Intel’s Fitness Industry Technology Council
- Member of the University of Massachusetts/Amherst Advisory Board for their School of Public Health
Prior to founding Plus One, Mike served as a Professor of Physical Education and Coach of Football and Lacrosse at SUNY/Albany. He received a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from Ithaca College while serving a Graduate Assistantship coaching Football and Lacrosse. He also completed three years of Post-Graduate studies in Applied Physiology at Columbia University in New York City.
He currently lives in Briarcliff Manor, NY with his wife Lauren and son Max. In Briarcliff, Mike is an active Volunteer Firefighter. In NY City he is an active Volunteer at the 9/11 Memorial and was also a Disaster Relief Volunteer for The American Red Cross with experience at Ground Zero on 9/11.
